We hear this verse and often think only of the pain of trials, grief, and the poundage of hardship. But have we ever paused to wonder if it might also speak to happiness?
Perhaps joy too is a kind of test. A calm one. A silent one. A gift so powerful it can shape or shake us. Allah does not grant happiness to break us or lead us astray. He knows the hearts that can hold ease without forgetting Him and the souls that can carry blessings without becoming blind to the Great Giver, Al Wahhab.
Sometimes, we take happiness for granted, we pursue it until we lose our way. But just as He measures sorrow with mercy, He presents joy with wisdom, never more than our hearts can bear without losing balance. And even light, if mishandled, can burn.
